In recent months, some Youtubers have finally discovered the man hate in tradpub, and for whatever reason, it has become a trendy topic in 2025.

(I tried embedding one of my own notes above and you see how that went. Substack has icons for tools that accomplish nothing.)
The ball seems to have got rolling simply by an observation that almost no books by male authors are for sale on retail book shelves. Other influencers picked up the ball and ran with it. Of course this catalyzed knee-jerk derision by feminists, white knights, and garden variety leftards online.
Two highlights were when a sicko male pretending to be a woman named “Briana WU” said, “Women read more fiction. We are literally 80% of the market;” and this response to the Nonsense-Free Editor below:
I’m not sure how long Nonsense-Free Editor has been advocating for male readers, but ever since this topic went viral, I’ve been seeing her videos suggested for me. She’s definitely worth watching. Anyway, some twink in the comment section thought he would school her and prove that new fiction by, for, and about men is vastly abundant and she just doesn’t know what she’s talking about. To prove his case, he listed his evidence: a big steaming pile of LGBT literary fiction with a dash of racial grievance porn (possibly containing some heterosexual content…but I wouldn’t bet on it).
This illustrates a couple points you should keep in mind:
Ironically, the most staunch defenders of men in any context is usually a woman. We should probably examine this phenomenon.
The only males who matter to institutions such as tradpub are sexual deviants and those who meet DEI favored demographic quota standards.
Calling homoerotic potboilers “men’s fiction” is like calling Brokeback Mountain “a guy’s movie,” but I don’t want to focus on that in this post.
Hordes of NPCs crawled out from under their rocks to scold John A. Douglas, Nonsense-Free Editor, and all other Youtubers with the audacity to notice aspects of the status quo. Critisism ranged from ACKshullees like the limp-wristed ass with the list of fart-blocking fiction to the “alright, it’s happenning, but that’s a good thing.” It’s all predictable boilerplate, and you can’t very well expect much different from feminists and their white knights.
Of more interest to me are the arguments and mindset of the fair weather critics of our pozzed pop culture who now feel it’s safe to chime in and voice some formerly forbidden opinions on the subject. My intention as of now is to pick up there next time.
Women own 80% of a shrinking buggy whip market.
OldPub is DeadPub.
Enjoy the decline, ladies of the left.
I commented on one of the many, many substack posts on this topic that my husband has been enjoying pulp stuff like litRPG stuff. Somebody restacked my post with an utterly incomprehensible reply that the only people who write litRPG do it ironically. I didn't respond because I didn't even understand the words they were using. But yes, it's that kind of bonkers people coming out of the woodwork to argue this.
