I'm in a similar camp. I keep searching for a platform to grow on but the platforms keep eroding under my digital feet. I was on minds; it went to shit. I was on gab, slowly getting traction. It get retarded. I'm on substack and it's not what was a year or more back. Where van I find that will stay good enough long enough, be stable enough long enough, to be worth my time and energy?

Wish I knew the answer, Sean. I’ve heard Royal Road can be a good place to build an audience if you play the algorithms just right…but who knows? If it’s like everything else, folks will hit the jackpot, but if/when I get there, the windows of opportunity will slam shut. Plus, I’m not actively working on any prose projects currently.

Like Goolag, Substack probably had a level playing field at some point, to seduce people into coming here. But now that they’ve secured their market share, they can police thought just like everywhere else.

…Except Gab, I once believed. I had a lot more reach and impact there as just another beta user than I do now as a veteran blueblood Gabber with thousands of followers. And every passing day it becomes less worth stepping over all the glowing Nazis/LARPing Feds to share anything.

Gatekeepers always regain control, in the end.
